Large Liebherr and JLGs for Singapore

Singapore rental company LH Construction and Machinery Leasing, a subsidiary of Lian Hup Brother (LHB), has taken delivery of the first 300 tonne Liebherr LTM1300-6.2 in Asia, as well as two 185ft JLG 1850SJ self-propelled boom lifts.

The six-axle LTM1300 features a 78 metre main boom, a 70 metre luffing jib and a single engine concept which provides the power for the carrier as well as when driving the crane superstructure via a combination of mechanical shafts.

LHB chairman Chua Kim Seng, said: “We are very impressed with the single engine technology as well as its strong load chart compared to the competing models. Our experience with Liebherr cranes has been excellent, and Liebherr has always been a preferred choice for us for the All Terrain cranes.”

The company has also taken delivery of two JLG 1850SJ self-propelled boom lifts which offer a working height of 58.5 metres and a maximum outreach of 24.4 metres with a platform capacity of 227kg. Maximum platform capacity is 454kg.

Established in 1968 LHB specialises in the import and export of heavy machinery. Its subsidiary, LH Construction and Machinery Leasing, operates a rental fleet of more than 2000 units, including cranes, aerial work platforms, telehandlers and other construction equipment.

New Liebherr for Casella Autogrù

Crane service provider Casella Autogrù Srl, based in Italy, has taken delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1200-5.1 mobile crane.

The five-axle model has a 200 tonne capacity, a 72 metre boom and 72 tonnes of counterweight. It is also fitted with the new Liebherr Variable Supporting Base Technology.

Corrado Villa and Davide Villa, co-owners of Casella Autogrù Srl, said “In 2008 we bought a Liebherr LTM 1100-5.2, in 2011 a Liebherr LTM 1250-6.2 and now, in order to renew and complete our fleet – composed of 15 mobile cranes, many of which are Liebherr branded – we had to replace the oldest LTM 1160/2. This is the reason why our choice fell on a LTM 1200-5.1. The crane’s performance is terrific as well as the level of technologies inside it. All that gives us the opportunity to operate with greater flexibility”.

The first task for the new LTM 1200-5.1 was in Piacenza, where it helped build a drilling rig.

Third LTM 11200 9.1 for Max Bögl

German crane group Max Bögl has taken delivery of its third 1,200 tonne Liebherr LTM 11200 9.1 making it six Liebherr crane so far this year.

The new crane features the 100 metre main boom option, which when combined with the luffing jib takes the maximum system length up to 188 metres.

Bögl took its first LTM11200-9.1 in April 2013 and its second in May of this year, the latest unit was recently handed over at Liebherr’s plant in Ehingen.

Peter Guttenberger, director of transport and machines at Max Bögl said: “We particularly use our LTM 11200 9.1 in the wind power industry. They are perfect for erecting hybrid towers”.

The other four Liebherr cranes taken this year include two 45 tonne LTF 1045-3.1 truck-mounted cranes a 100 tonne LTR 1100 and 220 tonne telescopic crawler cranes. The company has also ordered two more LTR1100 crawler cranes for delivery in the first half of 2015.

Ethiopian expansion for China’s XCMG

Chinese crane manufacturer XCMG has displayed two QY25K-II cranes at an exhibition in Ethiopia, where the company’s cranes are also currently completing the construction of a shopping centre.

At the recent Eleventh International Construction Machinery Exhibition, held at the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, XCMG’s local division also showcased its ZL50G loaders, XMR082 rollers, and GR180 and GR215 graders.

XCMG’s QY25K-II cranes are currently working on the ENDA shopping centre construction site in the city, one of a number of similar projects launched by the Ethiopian government in recent years. XCMG’s cranes are also being used on the National Grid Project in the country, initiated following rapid growth of the national economy.

The Chinese manufacturer, meanwhile, has also adapted its QY25KS truck crane for arctic conditions. The crane has passed Russian OTTC certification and is suitable for operation in temperatures down to -40°C.

Liebherr cranes are the latest in Steil

German crane company Steil has added two 500t Liebherr telescopic mobile cranes to its fleet to assist with jobs in the wind power sector.

German crane company Steil Kranarbeiten has added two 500t Liebherr telescopic mobile cranes to its fleet to assist with jobs in the wind power sector.

Steil, based in Trier and currently celebrating its 90-year anniversary, purchased an LTM 1500-8.1 with an 84m telescopic boom to replace an existing 500t model.

The company, which has a fleet of 80 cranes, also added an LTM 1060-3.1 for lower-weight, regional hoisting work. The model is said to be the most powerful three-axle mobile crane available, and has a 48m telescopic boom.

Crane Rental bolsters fleet with five new cranes

Crane Rental Corporation, based in Orlando, Florida, has further expanded its fleet with the purchase of five cranes.

The company added a 275t Manitowoc 999 crawler crane; a 230t Link-Best LS-298 crawler; two 130t Grove RT9130E hydraulic rough-terrain cranes; and an 80t Grove RT880E hydraulic rough-terrain crane.

The move was made in response to “increasing demand in almost every sector of our industry”, said company president Alan Ashlock.

Crane Rental had already expanded its fleet this year, purchasing cranes including a Peiner SK415 tower; a 660t Manitowoc 18000 crawler; a 600t Terex AC 500-2 all-terrain hydraulic truck crane; and a 275t Grove GMK 5275 all-terrain hydraulic truck crane.
