Malina Crane Hire from Ostrava, in the Czech Republic has taken delivery of the first Terex Explorer 5800 all terrain crane in the country. The firms owner and president, Radek Malina, visited the Terex Zweibrücken facility to pick up the crane and drive it 1,020 km himself to Ostrava. The Explorer 5800 crane uses a one-engine concept. ThermaPrime takes eight Tadano cranes
Tadano Asia has delivered an order of eight new cranes to ThermaPrime, a geothermal drilling company in the Philippines. The cranes, a mix of all-terrain and rough-terrain units, were delivered through local heavy equipment dealer Monark Equipment. ThermaPrime bought three 50t Tadano GR-500EX rough terrain cranes, four 70t ATF 70G-4 all terrain cranes and an 180t ATF 180G-5 all terrain. LR1300 crawler’s complex cement lift
Indian firm Bhoir Group used its 300t Liebherr LR 1300 crawler crane to complete a complex lift at a cement plant in Chattisgarh, India. The crane was hoisted 8.3t with an 86m main boom, 89m luffing jib and derrick with 50t of suspended counterweight. The lift was carried out at a radius of 53m and the load was placed at a height of 118m. The rental firm said that without the LR 1300 a bigger crane would have been needed to execute the lift, thus requiring more space and causing higher costs. US crane rental company Bay Crane is adding 26 new cranes and boosting its transport fleet to support its new branch in Carlstadt New Jersey. The new cranes included 12 new All Terrain cranes from Grove and Liebherr topped by the company’s third 500 tonne Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1. Crane Service has taken delivery of one of Link-Belt’s new ATC-3210 185 tonne/210 ton All Terrain cranes. Heavy and lift transport company Mammoet has opened a new location in Cairo, Egypt and established a company- Mammoet Egypt, which will be managed by director Khaled Ahmed. The Cairo branch is Mammoet’s second new office in the past 12 months and follows the opening of a branch in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku. Both new locations will support project operations. Tower cranes collide in London
Two tower cranes collided over Canary Wharf in London, UK today seriously injuring a 35 year old man. A flat top Yong Mao saddle jib tower crane was set up over the top of a Jost hydraulic luffing jib crane, and we are told that the jib of the higher crane was low enough to strike the luffer which had its jib in the out of service position. Safety alert for tower cranes
Following the recent collapse of three luffing jib tower cranes during high winds the UK’s Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has issued a safety alert relating to tower cranes. The alert is intended for tower crane operators and serves as a reminder that any luffing jib cranes left unattended in the out of service condition must be in free slew with the jib at a safe out-of-service radius.
